When I think of hiking, I’ve always pictured it as dirt tracks winding between shrubs, all kinds of trees and rocks, and basically a boring journey you commit yourself to for the purpose of getting fit. Never thought I’d hike with the luxury of a stunning lake view, nicely built walking track and of course, lots of trees and not so boring journey at all. Cradle Mountain is the perfect place for all levels of hiking, you can spend as little as 1 hour or as long as 6 days here (The Overland Track is one of Australia’s most famous bush treks if you are interested). I chose the Dove Lake circuit as it is one of the most popular and scenic walks available. Along the 6km walk around the lake, you can stop by lookout points, small beaches, waterfalls and you get to see Cradle Mountain from all angles. And everywhere you look, it’s like a real life painting right there 🙂
